December 29, 2016, Yerevan – Oxfam in Armenia announced the results of the media competition on Food Security and Nutrition challenges in Armenia. Winners were announced according to the professional jury in three nominations: print, online and audio-video. Tatev Khachatryan from “Hetq.am” got the prize for the best online material, Anna Hovhannisyan from “Aravot” and Sona Adamyan from “Hraparak” newspapers shared the prize for the best print material. The best audio-video material was Alina Nikoghosyan’s reportage for Civilnet.am.
Oxfam Armenia and Agriculture Alliance will be holding “Farmer’s Congress” conference on 28th February 2017 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Yerevan Armenia.
The event aims to shed light to the challenges that farmers of Armenia face today and open up a direct dialogue between farmers and the Government in order to come to effective solutions on a national level. This unique platform gives the farmers across Armenia a voice and is an opportunity for them to be heard by the national policy makers.
Oxfam in Armenia and Agriculture Alliance of Armenia initiated “Farmer’s Congress”, that took place on 28th February 2017 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Yerevan Armenia.
Problems raised in relations to Agricultural and financial sector: Ignati Arakelyan, the Minister of Agriculture, addressed insurance, taxation, budgetary policy, subsidies, promotion of local products, pension calculation, as well as agricultural loans by farmers. Armen Harutyunyan, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture answered the questions about Issues concerning agricultural cooperatives, agricultural production, product storage and consumption related problems, as well as agricultural extension system.
Joint National Award Ceremony to be held by the Ministry of Agriculture of RA and Oxfam in Armenia
On March 8, 2017 Oxfam in Armenia with the Ministry of Agriculture of RA will hold a National Award Ceremony for the “Food Female Hero – 2017” as a public event at the Congress Hotel Yerevan at 12:00. The National Award Ceremony will celebrate women’s roles and achievements in agricultural production and food security and mark International Women’s Day.

On March 15 Oxfam in Armenia will be marking International Day on Protection of Consumer Rights. The public campaign “Celebrities for food safety and healthy nutrition” will be launched. On the same day Consumers` forum will be organized with participation of key stakeholders, Prime Minister and major International Organizations.
Two-day experiential learning workshop was held in Tbilisi within the frame of EU-funded Food Security Regional Program. The event was unique by its balanced merge of the theoretical part covering various aspects of MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) and the good practices and lessons learned obtained from the said program. This format allowed the participants to actively get engaged into the discussion and not to get bored of the specific MEAL theory.
Oxfam in Armenia initiates competition for journalists with the purpose of presenting the best works on the challenges or/and success of the food security policy. The competition aims to raise awareness of the population and accountability of the decision-making institutions with regard to the elaboration of consistent policy on food security.
The stories of the book presented to the readers’ attention are based on the conversations with the people engaged in agricultural activities in different marzes (regions) of Armenia. The stories contain many other issues causing concern among Armenian farmers – men and women. These issues require solid solutions. Moreover, many partners in conversation see and provide solutions themselves.
