On 27 May, Oxfam jointly with other EU partners, celebrated the Europe day – Day of Peace and Unity. Oxfam presented its projects and jointly with OxYGen launched the “Healthy Plate” competition, with participation of Lidia Ayvazyan, TV celebrity and diabetologist. More than 40 people participated in the event and got consultancy on healthy nutrition and diet.
The Oxfam Representation in Armenia announces the essay writing competition for the students in Armenia in order to design a position paper on the visions/ suggestions/ innovative ideas on how to tackle the current Food Security Issues through empowering the small holder farmers.

FSN teams from both countries met in Tsaghkadzor to share information on FS project outcomes and impact with key stakeholders (alliances, governmental and non-governmental stakeholders and donors) and discuss how the results can be taken forward after the project is over.
Oxfam jointly with partners from Mother and Child health alliance initiated monitoring of the Nutrition statues in the secondary schools in Armenia. Research findings will be announced during the upcoming public event on Sep. 11, 2017.
On June 3-4, 2017 a Media Sensitization event (Accountability workshop) was organized for journalists within the framework of Oxfam’s Regional Food Security Project funded by the EU. The event enabled representatives of mass media, Ministry of Healthcare, Agricultural Alliance, Mother and Child Health Alliance, Oxfam and partner CSOs to discuss ongoing challenges and related issues on food security and nutritional sector in Armenia. It was also efficient to enhancing Agricultural Alliance’s and Mother and Health Child Alliance’s accountability to the public, additionally allowing to establish sustainable contacts with mass media for further campaigns and advocacy activities. In total 31 people participated in the workshop of which 25 are women and 6 are man, amounting 22 organizations of which 14 are mass media
During the last week of May 4 lessons (with participation of 50-60 pupils and 5-6 teachers in each of the lesson) have been organized with involvement of Nutrition expert from Ministry of Healthcare. Overall about 240 pupils and 20 teachers participated in the trainings. All 4 schools have been agreed with the Ministry of Education and Yerevan Municipality. Taking into account the higher interest towards the topic, live broadcast of the lessons have been organized. Videos from the life broadcast got over 14K reach in Facebook and over 51 000 views in Youtube.
Within the framework of the Capacity building component of Food Security project funded by the European Union Oxfam in Armenia in cooperation with the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia organised a study tour to Lyon to learn the French mechanisms on food safety risk analysis and assessment. The study tour took place on July 15-23 and involved the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, representatives of the State Service for Food Safety. Agricultural Alliance and Oxfam.
Oxfam closely with Agricultural Alliance of Armenia organized the “Harvest Day” Public Event on June 30, 2017 in Tavush, Gosh community. Oxfam’s “Harvest Day” is a yearly event bringing together representatives of agricultural cooperatives while encouraging farmer cooperatives, those who succeeded to enforce sustainable development of communities and improving food security and nutrition in the country.The event pursued special fair enabling agricultural cooperatives to enhance visibility while boosting more acquaintances and cooperation. To make the experience more vibrant, the guests were invited to visit Oxfam’s established Greenhouse at the community.
Food Security and Nutrition Project Closure Event will be held in Yerevan at Marriot hotel, Ararat hall, at 11.00 on September 15, 2017, organized by Oxfam in Armenia within the framework of the EC-funded regional project titled “Improving Regional Food Security through National Strategies and Smallholder Production in the South Caucasus”.

Research revealed that a big share of problems relate to the gaps in the policy implementation of school feeding and nutrition organisation as well as the diversity and menu of the provided food at schools.
