According to the UN<\/strong> official data:<\/em><\/p>\nViolence against women and girls remains the most prevalent human rights violation in the world.\u00a0 Due to this, 1 out of every 3 women is victimized, and this indicator has hardly changed over the past decade.<\/p>\n
More than 60% of women subjected to violence do not ask for any kind of assistance.<\/p>\n
On average, every hour more than five women or girls are killed by a member of their family. This means that on average, every 11 minutes one woman or girl in the world is killed by her relatives or intimate partner.<\/p>\n
In Armenia:<\/em><\/h3>\n\n- 14.8% of 15-59 \u00a0aged women who had ever have an intimate partner were subjected to physical violence over their lifetime \u2013 indicates the \u201cSurvey on Domestic Violence against Women\u201d<\/a>.<\/li>\n
- Meantime, most of the women – 67%, takes no step for protection or response.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Within the context of the #16Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the importance of expanding women\u2019s leadership is emphasized as a crucial means to promote gender equality and to prevent gender-based violence.<\/p>\n
The UN Women states that women\u2019s engagement in decision-making helps ensure gender mainstreaming and primary consideration of women\u2019s and girls\u2019 needs when defining and implementing emergency response, humanitarian, social, and all other kinds of policies.<\/p>\n
Starting today and till December 10, in the frames of the 16 Days of Activism, we will be presenting through our Facebook page the outlook of women involved in the public and political life of different Marzes of Armenia on women\u2019s rights, discrimination and violence against women, women\u2019s leadership, and other issues.<\/p>\n
