The project will promote gender equality and equal opportunities by challenging the narratives of disinformation, thereby fostering a more inclusive society.
Project objective
Combat the influence of gendered disinformation in Armenia by developing and disseminating media products about the members of local self-government bodies targeting up in Lori, Shirak and Syunik regions. As well as by media monitoring and legislative analysis.
Project outcomes
1․ Awareness is raised on the prevalence and impact of gendered disinformation in Lori, Shirak and Syunik regions.
This project will increase awareness among the local population, including women in the Lori, Shirak and Syunik regions, about the existence, consequences, and impact of gendered disinformation. Thus, the project intends to emphasize the importance of addressing gendered disinformation as a threat not only to gender equality but also women’s political participation.
2․ Women representatives of the local self-government are more resistant to the effects of gendered disinformation in Lori, Shirak and Syunik regions.
Based on human stories and showcasing lessons learned, the project intends to ensure that women in these positions are motivated and can continue to participate actively in decision-making processes.
3. Conclusions have been drawn based on media monitoring and legislative analysis, and recommendations have been presented to the decision makers.
10 online and 3 leading TV channels will be monitored to identify GID publications and their negative impact.
A legislative analysis will be carried out to assess the sensitivity of existing laws towards GID issues and explore the potential for preventing GID-related content through legal measures.
