“Women in Media – Elections 2021” Project aims to accumulate the evidence for assessing the media coverage during the elections from the gender-sensitive perspective with the follow-up recommendations for policy and practice change.
While the project mainly will contribute to the collection of robust evidence of media coverage during the elections from a gender-sensitive perspective, it will generate valuable knowledge about the capacity gaps of the media community and will allow for further targeted capacity-building interventions for more gender-sensitive media reporting.
The Project will facilitate discourse with journalists and other key stakeholders on how to cover the elections in a gender-sensitive manner for preventing stereotyped representations of women and positively contributing to women’s participation in political life.
During the Project implementation period the following activities will be conducted:
- Retrospective monitoring and analysis of the media coverage during the Parliamentary elections from a gender-sensitive perspective.
- Lifetime monitoring and analysis of the media coverage during the local self-government elections from a gender-sensitive perspective.
- Research findings presentations to the stakeholders
- Meetings/workshops with the Media community
- Development media gender-sensitive reporting self-assessment tool
“Women in Media – Elections 2021” Project is implemented by OxYGen Foundation and National Democratic Institute with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development USAID.
