Preparations for the Armenian Multiparty Democracy Academy have commenced

The Armenian Multiparty Democracy Academy (ARMDA) held a Training of Trainers from December 7 to 10, 2023. The Academy’s 8 trainers had the opportunity to learn about best international practices, discuss suggestions brought up in consultative meetings, and work on curriculum. All the trainers are academically trained professionals with extensive experience in democracy education.

Reem Judeh, the Senior Programme and  Knowledge Advisor of the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) also joined us at the training, she shared their principles, and experience and presented how similar schools operate in other countries.

Margarita Hakobyan, the Executive Director of OxYGen Foundation, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the project and the new collaboration with NIMD.

Throughout the four-day ToT, the international expert, Levan Tsutskiridze, who is also the Executive Director of the Eastern European Center for Multiparty Democracy, has supported the team in developing the ARMDA curriculum by sharing the best practices of similar schools in Moldova, Ukraine, and Georgia.

The curriculum of the Academy is being finalised.  The selection process for participants will shortly start, and then the three-month-long educational phase will officially begin.

ARMDA which is designed to provide a safe space for individuals from diverse social and political backgrounds to engage in dialogue and exchange ideas on issues of common interest, has been established through the collaboration of the OxYGen Foundation and the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy and is supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Armenia.
