Strengthening Women’s Participation in the Workforce

The “Strengthening Women’s Participation in the Workforce” project is implemented by OxYGen Foundation in cooperation with Solidarity Center in Armenia.

The overall goal of the project is to increase women’s full, equal, and safe participation in the workforce, including vulnerable women worker’s access to decent work in Armenia. In the frames of the project women-to-women networks will be developed, women-focused union reforms and employer dialogue will be fostered, capacity of stakeholders to develop policy recommendations grounded in evidence and women’s experiences will be built. These initiatives will channel women’s voices into actions that reduce barriers to improved working conditions and economic opportunity, increase access to quality employment, and influence policies that facilitate women’s empowerment and full participation in the economy.

In particular, OxYGen will implement activities focusing on building women’s networking capacity and assisting the Solidarity Center to involve trade unions and women trade union members in the existing networks. OxYGen will also work with program participants and the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia (CTUA) to support policy and legislative initiatives that reduce barriers that hinder women’s full participation in the Armenian economy. Also, capacity building 2-day seminars targeting up to 100 participants of the Young women’s mentoring and labor advocacy network to be established, including regional peer to peer learning seminars to develop soft skills of the participants will be organized. In addition, “Women in the World of Work” campaign will be initiated to cover the key messaged of the project through diverse media products.
