Funding opportunity – EU Small Grant Announcement

Project: Early elections 2021 – domestic observations and citizens empowerment by civil society

Maximum amount: 20 000 EUR.

 

Introduction

Within the framework of the EU funded “Early elections 2021 – domestic observations and citizens empowerment by civil society” project OxYGen Foundation for Protection of Youth and Women Rights is hereby announcing a competitive call for civil society and media organisations (third parties) to ensure that Armenian citizens have access to independent and objective information on elections via non-partisan media coverage.

The “Early elections 2021 – domestic observations and citizens empowerment by civil society” project is implemented by OxYGen Foundation, “Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly – Vanadzor” NGO, “Union of Informed Citizens” NGO, and “Yerevan School of Civic Studies” educational NGO. The Project is funded by the European Union.

The overall project contributes to improving the Armenian democratic process by fostering CSO- coordinated oversight and monitoring for inclusive, gender-sensitive, transparent, free, and fair elections in 2021 both at local and national levels.

The objectives and results of the sub-grants  awarded under this call should be in line with the objectives and results of the project and particularly the following key component of the project: Non-partisan and objective information to Armenia’s citizens regarding elections is ensured via media coverage.

Applicants should propose activities of this nature:

  • To develop series of video products (at least 4) on June 20, 2021, Parliamentary elections and post-election developments in the light of the democratic process in Armenia;
  • To develop a policy brief with recommendations assessing the peculiarities of the Parliamentary elections with the viewpoint of the media and free speech;
  • To cover the 3 stages of the LSG elections 2021 in Armenia: pre-election stage, electoral process, and post-election developments.

The Evaluation Committee will take into consideration the following evaluation criteria:

  • Overall quality of the proposal;
  • Cost-efficiency/value for money and quality of the proposed budget;
  • Previous experience and relevance to this experience;
  • Innovative elements;
  • Opportunities for replication;
  • The extent to which the proposal will include products that will target and/or contain analysis of key voter groups such as young female and male voters, male and female voters, people with disabilities, national minorities, displaced persons and rural/urban populations;
  • Impartiality and nonpartisan principles.

The Applicant should ensure EU visibility of all proposed activities. This should be described in the proposal.

How to apply

This Call is open for CSOs, non-for-profit organisations, legal entities and individuals. No restrictions on nationality and origin regarding the recipients of financial support are foreseen.

Interested applicants should submit the following documents:

  1. The concept outline and budget;
  2. Information on previous experience (projects of the last 3 years) in implementation of relevant and/or other projects;
  3. A scanned version of the State Registration Document, as relevant.
