Women in Local Self-Governments as Pledges of Community Development

 Ahead of local government elections on the 7th of June in Vanadzor Municipality, the Oxygen Foundation jointly with its partners the United Nations Development Program in Armenia and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, organized a meeting with the headline” Women in the Local Self-Government, as Community Development Guarantee”.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the issues of women’s political participation in local self-government bodies with women’s community leaders, current community elderly members, and candidates nominated for forthcoming elections, NGO representatives dealing with women’s issues, as well as representatives of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development. Also the, best practices that women have brought to solve community issues were discussed.

The discussion was organized within the framework of the “Women in Politics” project implemented by the Oxygen Foundation in partnership with the United National Development Program in Armenia, RA Territorial Management and Ministry of Development.

The project is financed by the UK “Good Government Fund”.
