The protection of labour rights will be strengthened in the frames of the EU-funded project

To strengthen protection of social and labor rights through empowering rights holders and promotion of trade unions several activities will be implemented in the frames of the subgrant contract signed by Margarita Hakobyan, Executive Director of OxYGen Foundation and Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan, the President of Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF).

Within the framework of the project EPF will facilitate piloting of digital-based secure hotline in 2 selected regional InfoHouses. The awareness of employees in the regions about the possibility of applying the digital-based hotline and its operation will be raised through dissemination of various information materials. Afterwards, the employees will apply the digital tools to inform about the various problems that they face in the workplace, and InfoHouses will collect and analyze the gathered data through the digital tool. As a result, the most widespread violations of labor rights will be identified, the lessons learned will be analyzed to be able to propose the model to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, RA Health and Labor Inspection Body and other human rights organizations for replication at national level.

Besides, steps aimed at the improvement of the Mediation institute will be implemented to ensure its proper practical application and access to justice for the benefit of the public. The possibilities of resolving labor disputes through mediation will be researched to provide recommendations based on the analysis of Civil Procedure Code, Labour Code, Law on Mediation, Law on Trade Unions and other relevant legal acts.

Several activities (workshops, capacity building activities, provision of technical and financial support 2 trade unions that are willing to adapt the new management model) to promote development of trade unions in Armenia will be implemented as well.
