Ahead of September 29 Local- Self Government elections, the Oxygen Foundation with its partner UNDP Armenia, has launched a series of “Equal Marathon” events.
The purpose of the initiative ahead of local elections meet with the people from those communities where the elections to be held and speak up about the importance of the local self-government bodies, the need for active participation of women and men in community-level decision making, as well as to encourage the women to participate in local decision making processes and to be nominated as candidates during the upcoming elections.
The mottos of the initiatives were:” Local Government 2019.Equal participation: A powerful community” and “More women in Local-Self Governments”.
Within the framework of the “Equal Campaign” events were held in the busiest parts of the community were guests: women politicians, experts, representatives from marzpetaran, talked about the role of the Local Self-Government and the importance of ensuring equal participation in the formation of the LSG.
During the event active youth from the region and the community also played an active role, spreading the key messages of the initiative.
The initiative was held within the framework “Women in Politics” project.

The project is implemented by UNDP Armenia and Oxygen Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia with the financial support of the “Good Governance Found” of Great Britain.
